X Research sourceįocus on one project at a time. Some business people actually recommend standing up at your kitchen counter at night, and thinking of it as an “idea bar” where you can generate new ideas, instead of sitting down as you normally do.If you tend to do your “work work” in front of a computer, this can also be a nice way to separate your creative work from your day job. You may not be used to working with a pen and paper instead of your computer, but this may be just the thing that gets your creative juices flowing. You can make a point of avoiding the Internet, or even avoiding your computer in general, in order to focus on the work in front of you. Find a calm space, play some light music if that works for you, light a candle, and just focus on working and writing down whatever comes to your head without judgment or distraction. If you’re a creative person, whether you’re a fiction writer, visual artist, painter, or composer, you can use this time to get down to business. The nighttime is prime territory for night owls to get their creative work down. ![]()

![]() ![]() There’s a lot to unpack here, including the many tins of baked beans Bean takes on holiday. 6) Mr Bean Rides Again Don’t do it, Bean. He’s a hero for the ages, a role model for anyone late for work. 7) The Trouble With Mr Bean How hard can it be?įeaturing two classic Bean scenes – dressing while driving and a dodgy dentist appointment – this episode is a shining example of Bean’s ingenuity and bravery. Bean doesn’t take rejection well, probably because his girlfriend’s name is Irma Gobb, which apparently means “divine flaxen haired-goddess among clowns”. 8) Mr Bean Goes to Town Dancing Bean.īean buys a new television and has his camera stolen, but worst of all, his girlfriend ditches him for a disco dancing spunk in a charming suit. 9) Tee Off Mr Bean Bean there, done that.īean plays crazy golf and finishes with a score of 3,427, which is the same number of Fantas I spewed up on the ghost train. Send that bad seafood to Moscow! Make it bark at the neighbouring cats! This is a crime against Bean that can never be avenged. It’s bottoms ahoy as our holidaying hero gets the seafood sweats and locks himself out of his hotel room, naked as the day wee Bean was born. 10) Mr Bean in Room 426 Rude? I’ll show you rude.Įxcuse moi, I must declare a NUDE ALERT. ![]() As that other hapless Englishman Postman Pat once said: as one door closes, another mail sack opens. The last ever episode of Mr Bean ends with our hero trapped in a sack on a mail train bound for Moscow. It works for Bean, and I’m tired just thinking about it. Sweet dreams are made of Bean, so the next time you suffer from insomnia, channel your inner Bean by putting socks on your ears to bark at the local cats. 12) Goodnight Mr Bean Sleep well, sweet prince. ![]() Boobs will only get you so far, and that’s to #13 on this equally annoying set of rankings. 13) Back to School Mr Bean Delicious.īean visits a community education open day to ruin a science experiment, muck up a karate lesson and draw a naked woman’s boobs. None of this happens to Bean, but we cannot abide him stealing a child, even if he does treat it to a lovely ride on the bumper cars. Babies are lousy dates, because they poo and cry and then you have to go home so they can sleep while you rock in the corner remembering the time you drank too many Fantas at the A&P show and threw up all over the ghost train. Bean moves in mysterious ways, communicating the complexity of human emotions without uttering a word, forever reminding us there’s humour to be found in the smallest and silliest of things.īut which of Mr Bean’s episodes ranks supreme? We’ve waited 31 years for these rankings, so like a terrified Englishman standing on the edge of a high diving board, let’s bellyflop right in.ġ4) Mind the Baby Mr Bean The weirdest episode of Downton Abbey ever.īean accidentally steals a baby and takes it to the fun fair. He shares the same hopes and dreams we do, even if his dreams end with his head stuck up a Christmas turkey. He’s the underdog in a world designed to deceive and confuse, and he’s as clever as he is absurd. Maybe it’s because there’s a bit of Bean inside everyone. Bean’s so wrong he’s right, and it seems 86 million of us can’t get enough of his kooky antics. He lies and cheats, he’s a menace on the roads, and most shockingly, he only made #12 on The Spinoff’s ranking of best beans. What’s behind this enduring love affair with television’s ultimate anti-hero? Yes, Bean drives a cool car, but he’s also an inept, selfish man-child who creates chaos wherever he goes. That humble 1990s sitcom has transcended time, language and boundaries, making Mr Bean a global comedy phenomenon. ![]() Everyone knows who Bean is today, he has 86 million Facebook followers, and he doesn’t even exist. Rowan Atkinson’s legendary comic character featured in only 14 original episodes (the 15th is a “best of” episode so doesn’t count), but Bean lives on. Thirty-one years have passed since Mr Bean first stumbled onto our television screens, teddy bear tucked under one arm and a wide-eyed expression plastered on his face. Only 14 episodes of this nearly-silent comedy classic were ever made. ![]() ![]() Nuance PaperPort Pro (PC) is a document management tool that helps users organize, find and share documents to bring a new level of proficiency and productivity to an organization’s workflow.Visioneer OneTouch® (PC) allows users to automatically route documents to email, printers, files on the server or to the cloud with one simple touch of a button.Visioneer Acuity with DriverPLUS technology (PC) uses advanced algorithms to intelligently and instantly correct and improve the visual clarity of scanned documents or images containing imperfections.“By transitioning paper-laden processes to digital, organizations can focus on growing and better serving customers.”īusinesses in a variety of markets benefit from the scanner’s strong software features, including: “The Duplex Portable Scanner meets demands for personal and portable scanning productivity, and helps our customers achieve their digital transformation goals,” said Walt Thinfen, president and CEO at Visioneer. The Calvin cycle fixes carbon in the chloroplasts of plants and algae, and in the cyanobacteria. Seven autotrophic carbon fixation pathways are known. The gross amount of carbon dioxide fixed is much larger since approximately 40% is consumed by respiration following photosynthesis. The majority of the fixation occurs in terrestrial environments, especially the tropics. It is estimated that approximately 258 billion tons of carbon dioxide are converted by photosynthesis annually. The primary form of inorganic carbon that is fixed is carbon dioxide (CO 2). Graphic showing net annual amounts of CO 2 fixation by land and sea-based organisms. Sulfur- and hydrogen-oxidizing bacteria often use the Calvin cycle or the reductive citric acid cycle. Chemosynthesis is carbon fixation driven by chemical energy, rather than from sunlight. "Fixed carbon", "reduced carbon", and "organic carbon" may all be used interchangeably to refer to various organic compounds. Heterotrophs are not themselves capable of carbon fixation but are able to grow by consuming the carbon fixed by autotrophs or other heterotrophs. Organisms that grow by fixing carbon are called autotrophs, which include photoautotrophs (which use sunlight), and lithoautotrophs (which use inorganic oxidation). Carbon is primarily fixed through photosynthesis, but some organisms use a process called chemosynthesis in the absence of sunlight. The compounds are then used to store energy and as structure for other biomolecules. Their emergence foreshadowed the evolution of many photosynthetic plants and oxygenated Earth's atmosphere.īiological carbon fixation or сarbon assimilation is the process by which inorganic carbon (particularly in the form of carbon dioxide) is converted to organic compounds by living organisms. Anthropology.Cyanobacteria such as these carry out photosynthesis. Country of publisher Switzerland LCC subjects Geography. Published in Frontiers in Environmental Science ISSN 2296-665X (Online) Publisher Frontiers Media S.A. Our results may enable applying a better science-based environmental policy for the benthic marine environment. Amplicon sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene revealed hydrocarbonoclastic bacteria including Methylophaga, Ponticaulis and Alcanivorax genera post crude-oil addition and Actinobacterota 67–14 lineage following gas-condensate amendments. These effects were prolonged and lasted several months post hydrocarbons addition, highlighting the sediments as a repository for oil contaminants. Moreover, our results show that crude oil and gas-condensate usually lead to a decline in benthic autotrophic microbial biomass (50–80%), while heterotrophic bacterial abundances remained unchanged, and bacterial production rapidly increased (maximal 1,600%, crude-oil > gas-cindensate). This temporal variability in NO2− + NO3− hints that hydrocarbon pollution may affect the interplay between benthic denitrification and N2 fixation, thus affecting nutrient limitation for benthic heterotrophic bacteria and phytoplankton. Porewater PO43+ drastically declined throughout the experiment, whereas NO2− + NO3− decreased ∼100 days post hydrocarbons addition and then increased in the remaining ∼100 days till the conclusion of the experiment. Naphthalene and benzo(a)pyrene were the dominant species comprising the PAHs in both the crude-oil and gas-condensate treatments (29–43% and 26–35%, respectively). Additions of crude oil and gas condensate significantly changed the sediment’s chemical properties, with 2-fold elevated levels of total organic carbon (TOC) and up to ∼ 6-fold higher concentration of total polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (∑PAHs) relative to unamended sediments. We investigated the response of crude-oil and gas-condensate spills on benthic microbial populations in the oligotrophic southeastern Mediterranean Sea using costume-design benthocosms. Marine sediments are ecologically-important environments that act as a long-term depository for different contaminants from natural and anthropogenic sources. ![]() ![]()
